Debating 13th March – 15th March Oxford

Alexandra College were the top ranked Irish Team, coming before Castleknock (who has a speaker on the Irish International debating team), Loreto, St. Stephens Green and St. Declan’s. Out of 800 teams, we reached the top 88 and we were ranked in the top 40 of these teams also – no small feat considering the extremely high standard of debate. The girls performed in four rounds of debates, and had to speak for five minutes each on a motion they had only fifteen minutes to prepare. The motions ranged from mental illness, to introducing quotas for females on corporations boards. It was a very stimulating experience for all involved and the Alex team donned their old uniform and really represented the college very well.
