What a wonderful week it has been for Transition Year as all their hard work and effort over the last few months came to a close with two stunning performances of ‘My Fair Lady’ that took place in the HWC. Every student in fourth year has had a part in this production, with girls being responsible for ticket sales, front of house, costume, make-up, set design and painting, props, backstage crew and of course our fantastic performers both on stage and in the band. Both shows were an incredible success and the talent these young women have is extraordinary.
In the course of getting this production off the ground, there have been many people who have given their help, expertise and time. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge their contribution.
Huge thanks to Franz Schutte and the other support staff who helped us out on so many occasions and a heartfelt thank you to Bryan O’Donoghue who built our wonderful set and who has been so helpful throughout.
Many, many thanks to all the staff members who gave their time as ‘cast nannies’, Front of House staff and especially to Katie Fanagan whose unfailing positivity and support kept us all going. Grateful thanks to our new teacher Molly O’Cathain for stepping in at the last minute to help with costumes, props and set.
To the parents who have fetched and collected their daughters and who also provided us with props and with sponsorship, we are so grateful.
We would like to thank everyone that came to see the show and bought raffle tickets, the proceeds of which went to Women’s Refuge in Rathmines.
Lastly, to the students, the ones who worked behind the scenes in wardrobe, backstage, on hair and makeup and the ones who gave up their weekend ‘sleep-ins’ to dance, sing and perform – Well done girls, we are all very proud of you.
