The Transition Year (TY) Presentation Night was an evening full of music, laughter and tears. Principal Barbara Ennis and TY Coordinator Katie Fanagan welcomed everyone to the Concourse where the event was held, on Wednesday, May 24th.
The evening started off with an incredible performance of Wedding Day at Troldhaugen on the piano by Grace Gollogley. Throughout the night, students reflected on each term of Fourth Year sharing with us their favourite memories from the year. We were treated to solo performances of Wherever You Are by 5 Seconds of Summer sung by Berenice Berlan, Carry On by Olivia Holt sung by Maria Matutano and another piano performance of I Giorni by Ludivico Einaudi beautifully played by Francesca Lorusso. The TY students shared with us a special performance of Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus, which was a song very close to their hearts.
Throughout the evening, each student was presented with a folder containing all of the certificates they achieved during the year.
Alexandra College ROCKJAM band ARKO performed Creep by Raidohead and Mr. Brightside by the Killers. They also performed a song, written by two of the band members called Once Again. The evening concluded with a rendition of the Fourth Year group’s Culwick song It’s Raining Men.
The winner of the Artisans Market was also announced on the night by William from Bretzel Bakery. Congratulations Little Mexico.
There were some special awards given out on the night also. Aoife McMorrow was awarded The Violet Mollen Cup, Stephanie Foley was awarded The Barbara Stanley Shield and Felicity Turley was awarded The Louise Crosbie Memorial Award, which is given to the student of the year.
The presentation night showed the incredible talent among the TY students. We wish the girls who will be leaving us after this year the very best of luck with the rest of their studies at home.
