Ethos

Alexandra College Junior School has the same ethos as the College.

Its ethos derived from the Quaker inspiration of Anne Jellicoe who founded the College and from the Church of Ireland dedication that supported, enabled and still maintains the foundation. We have inherited our commitment; to learn to think independently, to tolerate and value diversity, to respect ourselves and each other, and to be responsible for ourselves and to society.

We aspire to fulfil this commitment by fostering an atmosphere of respect, understanding and encouragement between all who teach, work and learn in the school, so that the development and contribution of every individual can be acknowledged and valued and all can work together to benefit personal growth and common good.

Ethos and curriculum are symbolised by the college crest.

Our School Creed

This is our school,
Let peace live here.
Let the rooms be full of happiness.
Let love be all around,
Love of one another,
Love of all people,
And love of life and living.
Let us remember
That as many hands build a school,
So many hearts make a school.
