Carboscan – The app to manage your carbon footprint
Carboscan is an innovative app enabling people to track their carbon footprint on a daily basis and view the grams of CO2 equivalent for all the products they purchase by simply scanning the product’s commercial barcode. The app sums each product’s CO2 eq contribution and shows clear charts to demonstrate weekly and monthly reviews with information about the user’s personal carbon footprint. From the app, it is also possible to join the Carboscan e-community and users can share, on a social media platform, the amount of grams of CO2 eq they have generated.
Carboscan will raise people’s awareness and change their daily habits by motivating them to buy more eco-friendly products, all in a fun way.

Important Notice: Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day (SID) 2020 will be coming up soon on Feb 11th and Alexandra College will be using this national event to highlight the importance of safer internet use for our students.
In the weeks leading up to it, internet safety will be highlighted in classes and at assembly. There will also be a poster competition ran on the theme "Together for a better internet". Students will be asked to work on this at home and to discuss it with their parents.
As Ger Brick reminded us at his super parents talk last year, communication is so important for safer internet use and for a positive experience.
Please note below some resources in the area of internet use and online behaviour that I hope you might find useful;

Happy Australia Day!
This week, to celebrate Australia Day, the J6Ws were learning all about Australia. In groups they researched facts about Aborigines, famous Australian landmarks, indigenous animals and about the tragic bushfires. They then presented their findings at assembly. Well done, J6W!
