In May, the J5 girls had a fabulous two days working together in small teams taking on the role of Directors in a company. They were jointly responsible for coming up with a new product or service, communicating its benefits and acquiring an investment in order to develop and market it. The J5 girls really got into the spirit of the programme and produced excellent products.
Fitgo, Fit It, Kidbit, Lunchalot and Sampbe were the names of their creative and innovative products. They presented their projects to a group of business people and looked for an investor to help them sell their products. I am pleased to report that all five groups were successful. When asked what they had thought of their Bizworld experience, the girls replied, “Fun, so enjoyable, realistic, real-life business, team work and amazing”.
Thank you so much to Aileen and Kerry from Bank of Ireland for running this programme in the school. Special thanks also to Alan Hartley and Ben Rance from Bank of Ireland for being part of the Dragons’ Den Team. The judges gave very positive feedback to all the groups commenting in particular on their confidence in presenting their product, creativity, research and super ideas. Well done, girls!
Bizworld Regional Final
Following on from the very successful Bizworld programme that took place in J5, one of the groups was selected to compete in the Dublin Regional Final in Trinity College. The team, “KidBit” presented their digital device to a new group of “Dragons” and they were super! Their classmates in J5 cheered them on enthusiastically. While they didn’t move on to the national final, the girls’ presentation went very well and they were awarded a special merit. They were presented with a €100 book token as a prize.
“KidBit” regional finalists – Ava Hartley, Lizzie O’ Reilly Hyland, Aisling Finn, Lucy Maguire and Aoife Connolly.
Well done, girls!
