KGLr/KGUpr – Panto

On Friday 7th December, Kg Lower and Kg Upper set off in high spirits, for the Mill Theatre to see ‘Beauty and The Beast’. With some time to wait before the show started, we got in to a festive mood with a cheerful Christmas sing-a-long.

We thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It was a great production of singing, dancing, costumes and audience participation.  We loved singing ‘Baby Shark’ and even the unexpected fun with the water guns!

Thank you to Miss Kennedy and Miss Byrne for accompanying us.  Excellent behaviour girls, we look forward to our next outing.

Ms Boyd and Miss Richardson.

Ice Skating Trip to the RDS

Last Friday morning, the J1s to J6s went ice skating to iSkate at the RDS. We got on the buses at around 9 o’clock and arrived ten minutes after that. The J6s got their ice skates first, so they could help with the younger girls. When everyone was ready we got on the ice. We were all a bit rusty at first so there were a few bumps and falls, but overall we had an amazing time. Many of the teachers joined in the fun too.

Hampers to Ms. Carr’s Home

Thank you so much for all the very generous hampers that you brought in for Ms. Carr’s Home. The families there really appreciate your kindness. Our J6 girls delivered the hampers to the Home and got to see the great work that is going on there.

Preschool Christmas Shows

Our Preschoolers entertained us all on Wednesday morning with Festive songs, poems and ballet dances. Well done, girls! Many thanks too to Ms. Brandon, Ms. Malseed, Ms. Murphy, Ms Moran, Ms. Kennedy and Ms. Lyons for preparing the girls so well.

Solo Singing: Christmas Concert

Heartiest congratulations to our young solo singers from J4, J5 and J6 who came together, most beautifully, on Tuesday 11th December to bring The Story of Christmas through word and song to a captivated audience.

Elsa Mooney and Lele Wang (J6) were narrators and Elsa/Group opened our concert singing in Latin about the shepherds.  Niamh Carty and Ciara Halpin (J4)/Group then sang about the Angels. Lauren Rea/Group described the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem with Little Donkey and Taylor Perkins (J4) /Group then sang in French about the Birth of the Divine Child.  Anna Perryman, Charlotte Stewart, Ciara McGowan J5, Lele Wang J6/ Group then sang Carol of Huron Indians, translating the Birth of Jesus into Indian imagery- Olivia Nell added tremendously drumming throughout this carol.

The concert then changed mood and Genevieve Kearns J5/Group sang Walking in the Air with Eva Heague J4 adding to the magic playing gentle chimes. A change of mood again and Claudia McEnroe J4 /group sang Santa Clause is Coming to Town – great fun here!

Eva Heague J4/Group then sang We Wish you a Merry Christmas and Ciara Halpin, Niamh, Group and audience brought our concert to a close with Silent Night.

Our sensitive and wonderful accompanist was Carole O’Connor. All the hard work was rewarded as these wonderful singers brought us through the Christmas Story and the timeless Christmas Carols with the greatest of joy. Many thanks to Ms. Fitzgerald and Mrs. Lamplugh for all their help too.

Well done, girls, and Merry Christmas!

Ann Fetherston (Solo Singing Teacher)

Christmas Jumper Day – in aid of Laura Lynn Hospice

Thank you all for the amazing support that you all gave to the Laura Lynn House today. Everyone got into the Christmas spirit and wore their Christmas jumpers. Ms. Brandon spoke to all the girls in assembly last Monday. She is a volunteer there and she was able to give us a great insight into the wonderful work that goes on in the hospice. Some of our girls raised money themselves for today – Isabelle O’Beirne (J4W) Zoe O’Beirne (J3W) and Jahan Mangat (J4R) went carol singing earlier in the week and raised €72. Emily Mc Kenna and Kate Harrington (J6R) donated their proceeds (€30) from their lemonade stall during the summer. Well done to everyone and thank you again for your fantastic support.
