Only 1 week to go! The 2019 JACA Social Evening

It is only a week to go now before one of our favourite events of the year comes up – the annual JACA Social Evening. This year it will take place again in the beautiful surroundings of the Westin Hotel on Saturday, April 6th 2019. It is always a most enjoyable evening for everyone and a great way for you to meet and catch up with the other parents in your daughter’s class. This year, we will be entertained by some of the Intermediate Choir from the Senior School and also by students who played at the Strings concert on Valentine’s Day. There are lots of amazing prizes to be won, a silent auction and also a fabulous Grand Prize!

What is the Grand Prize? Cullen and Co Jewellers (diamond specialists) are delighted to sponsor the main prize for the JACA Social evening – worth €5000! Co-owner and past pupil, Suzanne Gilhooly, will welcome the lucky winner, who will have the unique opportunity to either design a bespoke piece or choose an item of jewellery while enjoying a glass of champagne in the beautiful surroundings of their store.

You can book your tickets for this wonderful event through your class rep. We look forward to seeing you all on the night!

J4 Visit Res!

Currently, we have three of our J4 students boarding in Res. The two J4 classes went to visit Res on Wednesday morning. We saw the 6th, 5th and 4th year rooms. We also saw the rooms for Junior School students, the cafeteria, the common room and the two Prep rooms. We really liked visiting it and we got a delicious cupcake afterwards. Thanks to Mrs. Ginnelly, Catherine, the chefs and everyone else there who made us all feel so welcome. They were very nice. We would love to visit again!

Reach for the Stars!

Recently in J3R, we have been learning all about our amazing Solar System! The pupils have worked in pairs to create wonderful colourful and informative projects on each of the planets and they were looking forward to sharing their work with the rest of the Junior School. Our assembly today included a ‘roll-call’ of all the planets before allowing each pair the chance to discuss their work. It ended with a short quiz to make doubly sure that our audience were listening carefully! Well done, girls!
